The words
I'm gonna speak freely on this because black people
are at the bottom of the hierarchy, whether you like it or not.
Like, you can spin
it however you want, but the whole notion that
people of color can be united,
it doesn't add up because it's not connected to
reality. When in reality, every single
major language in the world has a derogatory word for black
people. And when in reality, even sign language
has a derogatory word against black people.
When people say POC unity, I say POC unity, where
it's black people literally against everyone.
And that's how it's been, and that's how it's gonna be.
So it's.
It's sad.
And I think one way to tackle that and.
And I don't want to be negative, but I do honestly think the
way to tackle that and the way to go forward is to find unity within
the black community itself
that needs to be united first before
anything else can actually come to fruition.
The room
This is the most contested thing I say in the video, and I said it on purpose. People talk about POC unity. I said it doesn’t add up, because it isn’t connected to reality: Black people sit at the bottom of the hierarchy, and every major language — I said even sign language — has a slur for us. When people say POC unity, I hear Black people against everyone. So the work, I said, starts at home: unity inside the Black community first, before anything else can come to fruition.
I said it as I believed it, in the register I had then. On the first day of filming I had tried it several different ways; this is the version that made the cut.
