So yes, I experience racism, but more time I

benefit from colorism

and that's something we gotta acknowledge.

But the whole light skin versus dark skinned thing is

not really helping anyone because at the end of the day, we're all black.

We need to remember that the white man

imposed colorism upon us.

In slavery times, the lighter skinned

slaves would be in the house whilst the darker skin slaves, more time would be on the field.

That separation is literally divide and conquer.

If you even look at history,

if you go to South Africa, you can see how the white

minority was literally controlling

the black majority. But how were they able to control the black majority?

They did that because they set us up against each other.

They set the different ethnic groups, whatever, the different

tribes, up against each other.

And that's literally what's happening with the whole light skinned versus dark skinned

thing. But people aren't deep in it.

So yes, unity within the

black community, that's the way forward.

And we need to tackle that by tackling colorism.

The same colorism that paints darker skinned people as aggressive,

as dangerous, as a threat is the same colorism that paints lighter

skinned people as more digestible, soft, mild.

That's the same problem.

And if you can't see that's on the same page.

If you can't see that's part of the same issue, then

you're the problem as well.”
