Born into a racist family
The words
Being mixed, I've been in a lot of
interesting situations and I Just want to like
share that the. It hasn't been easy
especially because you can be in situations where you will
experience racism from your own family. And that's
a bit of a mad one to like digest. And I feel like it's
not really spoken about
and especially growing up. Like
it's weird like when
it happens from like people close to you, from your loved ones.
And one thing I want to say is
that when people fetishize,
I can't even pronounce that.
When people glorify
whatever interracial marriages and
relationships, realize that
if there's a child there, that child needs
to be protected. Because
when you're mixed, you can actually
basically be born into a racist family. Like your own
family can be racist and be saying the N word or whatever situation
it can be. And, and that
can be mad. And that's a burden to carry because one side of your family
are the oppressed whilst the other side of your family are the oppressors.
So I hope that people deep and realize that.
It's not all about getting that light
skinned child with green
eyes, curly hair, a white smile
and smooth skin.
Like that's a trend. However, that child is
then growing up in a family where potentially
their closest loved ones are racist and don't actually value his or her life.
The room
On the first day I also tried, several times, to say something I had never said on camera: that when you are mixed, you can be born into a family where some of the people closest to you are racist — and that the people who glorify interracial relationships online rarely think about the child who grows up inside that. One side of your family the oppressed, the other the oppressors. I said it as a warning to anyone romanticising light-skinned babies with green eyes and curly hair: that child still has to grow up, and may grow up without being valued by the people who should value them most.
It is true, it is mine, and I say it without naming anyone.
