Closing remarks, first video, April 2021. I said I had said what I said. Then I gave the one line I actually wanted to end on: we all know Black people aren’t silent — the question is, are we being silenced?
I didn’t answer it. I let the question stand, and a moment later I said the three words that closed the video properly: that’s the answer. I meant it. A question asked plainly enough does its own arguing.
I have kept doing that. Later that year I asked on camera whether I was really free. Fifteen months later I asked it again. The film carries the question as its title because I never once turned it into a statement. A question is not an attack; it is a Trojan horse. You let it in, and it opens from the inside.
