That literally proves that it's guilty
The words
All of these different things that we experience
in our everyday life,
whether it be microaggressions,
whether it be like racist, like
just jokes or comments, whether
it be like culture appropriation,
whatever it may be like,
let's stop looking at
it at just
one off incidents.
Let's stop looking at it as random.
This is the UK we're talking about.
So I was
shocked like many other people when
a report came out
because Boris Johnson commissioned an independent report to
find out if the UK is institutionally racist.
And interestingly enough, like surprisingly ironically,
the report came back and the report said
that there is no institutional racism in the uk.
Okay,
that's like, for me, that's a bit awkward because an
institutionally racist country is not going to admit
that it's racist.
So the report coming back saying the UK is innocent,
that literally proves that it's guilty.
Make it make sense.

This is where the video’s title comes from. I had spent twenty minutes saying that the things we live with — microaggressions, jokes, comments, appropriation — are not one-off incidents and are not random. This is the UK we’re talking about. Then I got to the report.
The government had commissioned an independent report to find out whether the country is institutionally racist, and it came back and said there is no institutional racism here. That’s a bit awkward, I said, because an institutionally racist country is not going to admit that it is. So the report coming back saying the UK is innocent — that literally proves that it’s guilty. Make it make sense.
I had already said a version of this in the spring, days after the report landed, to an interviewer, in a video nobody has seen. Here I said it alone, to a 4K camera, and it became the name of the thing. A verdict that clears itself is not a verdict. It is a defence.
